The small village of Burg Layen is located in the North East of this wine-growing region in a small valley surrounded by vineyards. The parent company of the traditional world-famous wine merchants Pieroth is likewise located here. A complex interplay of various aromas teases the nose: juicy apricot and flowery notes paired with exotic lychee. The taste of this Bacchus Kabinett is very fruity and pleasant at the same time young and well-balanced. To celebrate its 300 years anniversary in 1975 and establish a clear identity for the wine producing region in which the family has lived continuously for so long and to distinguish its unique and exquisite wines from those of the Rhine and Moselle River Pieroth created the Blue Bottle. Since then Pieroth has bottled all its superior fruity Nahe wine in the now famous bottle which has become known throughout the world as "Pieroth Blue".
