The Piccolomini and Da Vinci families were united by a deep friendship in the 15th century. Enea Silvio Piccolomini was elected Pope as Pius II and Leonardo Da Vinci is counted amongst the greatest painters of his era with his oil painting entitled "Mona Lisa".
