A Fascinating Region
Today we’re doing a wine region spotlight by highlighting the Alsace-Lorraine region of France. When thinking of France wine regions many people of course think of the world famous Bordeaux wine region, but there’s many other great regions to take a deep dive into! The Alsace wine region is in the Northeastern region of France near the border of Germany. This close proximity to German gives the region a unique merging of the two countries cultures and wine production methods. Wines of the region typically have aromas and characteristics associated with dry Riesling such as floral and fruity aromas. The most popular varieties of the region include Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Gewurztraminer. So, next time you’re looking to expand your palate or try a unique French wine that isn’t from Bordeaux, look for a wine from the Alsace wine region!
